What should I order if I don’t like bitter coffee?

‘Bitterness’ can come from roast (more roast-forward compounds), extraction balance (some cups emphasize bitter perception), and temperature.

In espresso, a modern baseline often targets ~1:2 with controlled time and dose, but your best experience is still preference-based. For milk drinks, milk temperature matters: many baristas target the range where milk tastes sweetest and most integrated; going very hot can make milk taste less pleasant.

A simple ordering path:

  • Want smooth + comforting: latte or flat white.
  • Want coffee-forward but softened: cortado.
  • Want bright + tea-like: pour-over/filter (ask for the most fruity/floral option).
